Vintage PURBECK POTTERY Dark Brown Teapot with Wicker Handle | Mid-Century Style | Hard-to-Find | Elegant Design Aesthetic | Great Condition
In excellent vintage condition, this beautiful mid-century teapot was made by the Purbeck Pottery, England, which was established in Westbourne, near Bournemouth, Dorset in the mid-1960s.
Designed by Robert Jefferson, previously of Poole Pottery, the square shape echoes Scandinavian design lines, while the cane rattan handle adds a Japanese or Asian touch. In excellent vintage condition with some minor surface scuffing commensurate with age, the teapot has no cracks, chips, or repairs.
The only oddity is that the lid sits at a very slight angle, however, this would have occurred during manufacture.
While there are a few examples of Purbeck tableware online, this dark (and appealing) colorway is hard to find. It will make a lovely addition to your kitchen or dining room décor and will be much appreciated as a gift.
