Vintage DAUM FRANCE Sculptural Clear Crystal Centerpiece Bowl with 24 cm (~9.5") Diameter | Mid-Century Modern | Signed | Circa 1950-60
This large, refined, and sculptural clear crystal glass bowl was produced by Daum, one of the most illustrious glassmakers of the period in Nancy, France, circa 1950. Daum was awarded a Grand Prix during the 1900 Universal Exhibition for their exquisite glass pieces.
This piece features Daum's unmistakably modern form and is a testament to their forward-looking vision and superior glass-making techniques, which have made them one of the most indelible names of the 20th-century for incomparable crystalware and objects.
The bowl is signed "Daum France" and bears the Cross of Lorraine. It is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, chips, or fleabites. There is some scratching to the base surface (see photo #9), and close examination shows light wear commensurate with age.
A stunning, weighty, and significant piece.
