Vintage 1970s Kosta BODA Sweden ,Rhapsody, Glass Bowl Designed by Kjell Engman | Features Swedish Folklore and Cultural Scenes in Relief
Presented in its original box, this charming heavy crystal bowl was designed by Kjell Engman for Kosta Boda in the 1970s.
The exterior is heavily textured and features Swedish folklore and cultural scenes in a relief pattern. The interior of the bowl is totally smooth, while the rim is irregular and undulating. The scenes are presented in four panels that are separated from one another by traditional Swedish folk art ,kurbits, (Kurbitsmålning) style decorations that are built around floral motifs.
The four scenes are: * Two couples dancing under a maypole * Nils Holgersson and his goose, Morten, from ,The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, (by Selma Lagerlöf, the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in literature * A reindeer standing outside a Sámi hut * The Stockholm City Hall (this scene is often identified as being the Church of St Nicholas, which we believe is incorrect)
In pristine condition, this lovely bowl will make a wonderful display piece, look great on your holiday table filled with red cherries, or otherwise used as a serving dish.
