Haskell was renowned for sourcing the best quality faux pearls (often from Japan) and just as her costume jewelry commanded a premium price when first offered to the market, vintage pieces remain extremely sought-after by collectors.
This necklace has been double-knotted by hand and the shiny pearls retain their creamy luster, making them hard to distinguish from real pearls. There are slight blemishes on the first, second, and fourth pearls adjacent to the clasp, however, they are hardly noticeable to the naked eye.

DATING THIS MIRIAM HASKELL NECKLACE The necklace is fastened with a side clasp showing Patent 3,427,691 on one side and the Haskell signature in block capitals on the other. This clasp was used on Miriam Haskell necklaces from 1975 to the mid-1980s.
A flat oval tag is attached to the clasp with "MIRIAM HASKELL" stamped on it. The stamping comes through to the other side of the tag, where it is reversed. This tag appears on Miriam Haskell jewelry from the early 1950s through to the end of the 1970s. These markings tell us that this glass pearl necklace dates back to somewhere between 1975 and 1979.
