ABOUT DESIGNER ALBERT COLLEDGE
After joining Denby Pottery as a caster in the early years of the 20th century, Albert Colledge,s talents were quickly recognized. Following his return in 1918 from the First World War, he became head of Denby’s newly established decorating department and later rose to be the company’s chief in-house designer, a role that he ceded to his son Glyn in 1950. However, Colledge remained an important Denby designer, collaborating with his son on many of Denby’s most successful lines until his retirement. He is best known for his ‘Greenwheat’ stoneware tableware introduced in 1956 and produced until 1977.
