Classy and Elegant! Vintage 22-Piece Hutschenreuther Coffee Service | ,American Beauty, Rose Pattern with Gold Trim | Exceptional Condition
On offer, is a 22-piece coffee service made by the renowned German porcelain company, Hutschenreuther. While the back stamp was in use from 1939 to 1965, the shape of the crockery, together with the pattern, suggests these pieces were made in either the late 1950s or early 1960s.
This beautiful service is decorated with the simple and elegant ,American Beauty, rose pattern on a crisp white background and finished with a generous gold trim. The service comprises:
• 6 trios (cup, saucer, side plate)
• 1 x six-cup coffee pot
• 1 x lidded sugar bowl
• 1 x creamer
• 1 cake plate
There is a tiny loss to the gilded vertical edge of the top rim of one of the cups (see photo #10), which probably occurred while in storage. However, apart from this, the service is as close to being pristine as possible. It seems as though it was rarely used — when examined under strong light there doesn,t even seem to be evidence of utensil marks, let alone crazing, crack, or chips.
Classically understated, this Hutschenreuther coffee service is a very special find.
ABOUT THE ,AMERICAN BEAUTY, ROSE
The American Beauty rose was bred by Henri Lédéchaux, a French rose breeder based in Villecresnes, Île-de-France in 1875, and named ,Madame Ferdinand Jamin,. But when it was introduced into the US in 1886 by George and Bros they registered the name ,American Beauty,.
This hybrid perpetual rose produces beautiful blooms of deep pink that carry with them a very strong fragrance, making them an instant hit with florists, and right from its introduction in 1886, it was fetching at least two dollars a stem. As a result, it was also referred to as the ,million-dollar rose,.
