Art Deco BENDIGO POTTERY Waverley Ware Vase | 1930 - 1949 | Rich Brown and Tan Drip Glaze | Exceptional Condition
This stunning art deco vase is an excellent example of decorative pottery produced in Australia during the 1930s to 1940s, as the economy began to recover from the Great Depression.
Standing 26 cm (~10.2) high and decorated with a bright brown and tan drip glaze, it still bears the original Bendigo Pottery Waverley Ware sticker, a line produced from 1930 to 1949, characterised by Art Deco curves, lines, and angles.
This beautiful and functional vase is also a lovely piece of social history.
Although a very faint 5 cm hairline runs vertically from the rim through the glaze, it can't be detected inside the vase and doesn't compromise its integrity. Apart from that, there are no cracks, chips, or repairs.
Established in 1858, Bendigo Pottery is Australian-owned and operated and the oldest working pottery in Australia, having operated continuously from its current site since 1863.
