This chunky stoneware pottery features a greyish-white background with a hand-painted rustic motif in black, brown, rust, and yellow. The hue of the hand-painted stripes varies due to the melting of the colors during the firing process, making each item unique.
Designed by Anja Jaatinen-Winquist, the Arabia Finland Karelia pattern was in production from 1970-1986. Karelia (Karjala) was a province of Finland, that was divided between Finland and Russia after the Winter War of 1940.
Each cup and sauce is in excellent vintage condition; however, there are light utensil marks on the side plates.
These Arabia Finland Karelia breakfast sets make a great addition to a country kitchen décor and are easy to match with other rustic items.
