This stylish porcelain vase is a very fine example of Rosenthal Studio-Linie,s Samuramat series designed by renowned Danish-born artist Bjorn Wiinblad (1918-2006). It features a simple large oval shape with a narrow oval foot and an oval opening to the top
Samuramat was an Empress Regent of Assyria between 811 and 808 BC and was one of the first known women to rule an Empire. The vase is decorated with a stylized seated figure of the empress surrounded by flowers and birds with a bird perched on her raised right hand. A further motif of birds and flowers is applied to the opposite side of the vase. On a white ground, the grey decoration has gilded highlights with a facsimile signature
