The Golden Age of Hollywood Personified! 1957 EVANS Gold-Toned Mini Makeup Clutch Purse | Amazing Condition | With Original Box & Price Tag
Sporting an elegant engine-turned design, this gold-toned Evans Case Company metal mini-makeup clutch purse is in amazing condition and comes complete with its original protective fabric pouch, logoed box, and price tag.
Released in 1957 (see image #8) it was advertised as being a ,fully-fitted carryall, that features two compartments. The first contains the original lipstick holder, unused powder puff and powder well, along with a small coin purse. A hinged mirror sits inside the lid, which can be pulled down to reveal the second compartment, which can be used to hold notes, cigarettes, etc.
Both compartments are decorated with a traditional ,Basket Weave, that,s golden and gleaming while the lid of the powder well bears the Evans logo. The gold-toned snake chain handle is likewise in excellent condition, with fastening that,s secure and sound.
Throughout, the clutch seems to have had very minimal (if any) use. Nevertheless, due to aging (65 years) there are some very minor blemishes, these are:
• The mirror has some areas of ghosting (yet is still perfectly usable). This may well be due to storage in an environment of temperature and humidity fluctuations • There are a couple of blemishes on the gold-tone exterior (see image #9)
This is a fabulous Hollywood glamour accessory and a wonderful piece of 1950s US social history.
