This elegant dark brown, Italian-made, structured. top-frame purse is covered in genuine lizard skin.
The style is very much from the 1950s or early 60s when such a bag would have been the requisite daytime accessory of any fashion-conscious woman.
It features a rigid handle and would have either been either held at knee-length or draped over the wrist (in the manner that the late HM Queen Elizabeth II often carried her purse).
The lizard skin is in excellent vintage condition, although, as shown in photos #4 and #5, there is some slight pouching (or warping) on one side where the lizard skin may have slightly separated from its backing material. However, this is only a minor blemish and is not readily evident when carrying the purse.
The leather-lined interior with two open side pockets is in pristine condition and the gold-tone hardware is solid, sparkling, and fully functioning. The closure is tight, and the clasp has a solid snap.
There is some slight wear to the top of the handles - but far less than might be expected from such a vintage item (see photo #10). This wear is not noticeable when the handles are held in the hand.
There is a card inside the purse that says, ,Vera Lucertola, — which translates as ,Genuine Lizard,.
