1950s DIANA POTTERY Shrimp-Handled, Shell-Shaped Divided Serving Dish | Add a Touch of Retro Aussie Style and Panache to Your Holiday Table!

How good will this platter look on your holiday table? Piled high with prawns on either side with a generous serving of cocktail sauce in the middle, this fabulous 1950s Diana Pottery serving platter is so retro yet also exudes a totally modern chic.

The background color of the shells is a pale blue/green, while the ridges are white. Remarkably, for a piece that's more than 60 years old, it,s in exceptional condition with no cracks, chips, repairs, or crazing. There is some very minimal surface wear and one uneven spot along the rim, which could be from manufacturing or a tiny loss of glaze.

Quite possibly this was an unwanted gift that has spent most of its life at the back of a cupboard, waiting to be liberated and used.

Made by Diana Pottery in Marrickville, Sydney, this delightful prawn platter is a fabulous example of Australian post-war domestic life.

Slip cast, it is decorated with hand-painted red shrimp ,handles, that have black detailing and long antennae, creating a wonderful sense of playfulness and whimsy.

Diana Pottery was established in Marrickville, Sydney, in 1941 and ceased production in the mid-1980s. They were renowned for making decorative pottery, earthenware, and kitchenware items that are now highly collectible — yet still very affordable.
