Large Mid-Century BUCHAN Stoneware Pitcher | 1956 ,Brittany Pattern, | Made in Scotland | Highly Collectible | Excellent Vintage Condition
This delightful, medium-sized, mid-century Buchan stoneware pitcher was produced by A. W. Buchan & C0 (1878-1972) in Portobello, Scotland, which is now a suburb of Edinburgh. It features the gorgeous 1956 ,Brittany, design of abstract, hand-painted oranges and pears, and as the name suggests, it has a French provincial feel to it.
However, unlike the pottery commonly produced in the south of France, Buchan pottery is fine, high-quality, high-fired stoneware.
This beautiful Buchan stoneware pitcher is in excellent vintage condition and will look lovely on a breakfast table. It stands at about 12.5 cm (~6") high on an 8 cm (~3.2") base.
In recent years, 1950s Buchan pottery has become increasingly sought-after by collectors.
