A rare and charming find! A Pair of Hand-Painted Bronze Bookends | Children Playing Tug-of-War | Kronheimer and Oldenbusch | 1928 - 1935
Made by Kronheimer and Oldenbusch (K&O) in New Jersey between 1928 and 1935, these charming bronze bookends feature three children playing tug-of-war, their faces showing the strain. Looking closely, you'll also see a dog cowling beneath the boys.
Kronheimer and Oldenbusch (also known as the K&O Metal Novelties Company) was in business from 1895 to 1939 and produced a variety of bookends from about 1928 to 1935.
This fabulous set of bookends is in great condition for its age. The boys' caps were cold-painted, and have some wear.
Kronheimer and Oldenbusch bookends molds were purchased by the Philadelphia Manufacturing Company, who reproduced them in the 1960s.
