15-Piece, Classic Mid-Century ROSENTHAL Six-Person Coffee Service | ,FORM 2000, Shape Designed by Raymond Loewy and Launched in 1954
This stylish mid-century designed 6-person, 15-piece coffee service from Rosenthal is both elegant and highly modern.
The decoration is delicate and exquisite featuring fine pastel-colored leaves and small flowers in three distinct groupings, rather than being a repetitive motif. The front of each piece is different from its reverse or sides. This is best illustrated in image #3.
The set is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs and with almost no visible signs of wear. This will make a beautiful addition to your tableware.
ABOUT THE DESIGN The set is made in the ,Form 2000, shape, which was developed by New York-based designer Raymond Loewy over a two-year period (1952 to 1954) for Rosenthal of Germany. Loewy is recognized as one of the first industrial designers, whose illustrious career spanned six decades — from the 1920s to the 1980s. Rosenthal commissioned various artists to provide decorations for the Form 2000 line. The service became part of the Rosenthal Studio-Linie in 1961 and was eventually issued with nearly 200 different patterns during its 1954 - 1978 production period.
